During the pandemic Allan Miller is now teaching a free Zoom acting class open to the public. The class is a combination of work brought in by participants and exercises, including text work, character work, sensory and emotional memory work, auditioning and interpretation. Allan Miller, who usually teaches at The Actor’s Studio/West on the imaginative use of the Method, is currently teaching a weekly Zoom workshop which is only open to members of the Actors Studio nationally (link available through the Studio). Allan has also taught at colleges and professional schools, including Circle in the Square, Yale School of Drama, New York University, and the Focus Theatre in Dublin. Some of his well-known students include Barbra Streisand, Dustin Hoffman, Meryl Streep, Geraldine Page, Lily Tomlin, Sigourney Weaver, Peter Boyle, Rue McClanahan, Dianne Wiest, and Bruce Davison. His work as a master teacher is featured in the compilation book, “A New Generation of Acting Teachers,” published by Penguin. He is the author of the book A Passion for Acting: Exploring the Creative Process now in its third printing. He’s also produced the DVD, Auditioning.
